If you like fun, comic-related activities I've got some options for you:
First: I hope you're able to make the drive up the Bethesda, MD this weekend for the SMALL PRESS EXPO!
For my money it's the best showcase for independent comics in the whole
dang country-- a chance for you to meet indy superstars and up'n'comers
alike, and get exposed to the direction comics are heading. Many of
today's A-listers (Lemire, Bendis, Cloonan, Sean Murphy, Remender,
Kirkman to name a few) got their start in this chunk of the comics
world, and there's always great new stuff to experience.
Next: if you're in town next weekend,, join me at FALLOUT for HEROES AND
VILLAINS NIGHT! I'll be judging the costume contest again this year,
it's always a great time. You can find details here! And it's the same day as BATMAN DAY-- Saturday 9/21!
Keep those dry-but-used plastic and paper bags coming in! Any step we
can take to reduce new usage, we want to do it! So if you've got a
russian-dollesque collection of bags within bags within bags taking
space in your pantry and you don't know what to do with them, we'll take
them! thanks!
LAST CALL! Here are the debuting titles shipping in a few weeks that
we're spotlighting for you-- if you want any, don't sleep on them! tell
us now! We want to order enough to go around for everyone but we can't
gamble on every title. If no one tells us they want stuff by Monday
(when our orders lock), and we can't tell whether it's gonna be a a good
read, we're going to order conservatively. Communicate!
