STAR TREK DISCOVERY (IDW) While I think it’s kinda lame they don’t have any covers for this yet and it’s shipping in a few weeks, I hear good things about the show so I’m giving you guys the chance to add it to your lists.
SWORD OF AGES (IDW) This is a pick of the month-- the artist from the classic Locke & Key is writing AND drawing his own new series! Alien worlds, timeless magical swords, and unlikely protagonists. Sign me up!
VENOM INC ALPHA (Marvel) This one-shot kicks off the new crossover between Spidey and Venom and probably other characters.
PHOENIX RESURRECTION (Marvel) Old lady Jean Grey is returning! And by old lady I mean she’s probably like 26.
X-MEN: GRAND DESIGN (Marvel) And here’s one of my picks for the whole dang year! Seminal indy talent Ed Piskor made huge waves with his Hip Hop Family Tree series, and here creates a streamlined , cohesive look at the entire history of the X-Men! Can’t wait! This is the kinda thing I’d love to see more of from Marvel.
GRAVETRANCERS (Black Mask) That cover’s good, that’s for sure. About people who create a drug out of human remains. That’s nasty!
JOHN WICK (D.E.) See, this is EXACTLY the type of book I don’t know what to do with. I’ve seen preview pages and it looks great-- but are you clamoring for a John Wick comic? If you want to check it out, let me know!
QUARRY’S WAR (Titan) What a perv! Written by noir legend Max Allan Collins!
CATALYST PRIME: KINO (Lion Forge) I keep waiting for these Lion Forge superhero books to pick up steam, but they haven’t yet. This’ll be one I get for those who ask but probably won’t have many beyond that.
