Did you hear? VCU has invited important comic industry gentleman SCOTT MCCLOUD to speak, and darn if he didn’t accept!! It’ll be on Monday, April 6-- 7pm, at the Grace Street Theater, free entry. We’ll be there selling Mr. McCloud’s books, from his new graphic novel THE SCULPTOR (garnering rave reviews!), to UNDERSTANDING COMICS and ZOT! This’ll be a fine evening.
Speaking of people coming to Richmond to meet the locals, writer SAM MISERENDINO came down from Buffalo, NY and brought his graphic novel PRINCE OF PIECES to Velocity! This is particularly exciting because it was our pal Kerry Talbott’s final comic art he created prior to passing away in October 2013. The book looks great, and reads great-- about Jesus coming back to Earth in modern times, a dark reflection of all those that have used his name to commit evil acts, and he’s not too happy about it. Provocative stuff, and well reviewed by folks on all points of the religion spectrum. If you were unable to come by, we have a pretty good pile on hand!
